Society isn’t kind to children who are different from their peers. It doesn’t matter whether the differences are visible or invisible. Be watchful for potential abuse in families with challenging circumstances.
- Unwanted children who are born as a result of an unexpected pregnancy, rape or sexual abuse
- Handicapped children or those with special needs
- Small prematurely born children, who may be more sick, fussy, dependent or slow to develop than others their age

ESCAPE at a glance…
ESCAPE Family Resource Center is one of many agencies in Houston offering services to help families in need. Our focus is on parenting education and child abuse prevention.
- We offer parenting classes and workshops seven days a week, day and night.
- We invite both parents and children to attend courses in age-appropriate group settings.
- Most of our classes and materials are free.
- We have developed specific programs for populations identified as at-risk for abuse or neglect.
- We collaborate with tri-county social service agencies.
- We meet our students throughout the Houston area, in their own communities.
