Parents who hit or scream at their kids, chronically neglect them, sexually exploit them, fail to provide medical care for them or otherwise mistreat them are teaching their children this behavior. These children will probably grow up to become abusive as well. ESCAPE was founded to stop this cycle.
Our classes teach parents how to cope with the stress and anger that raising a child can stir up so that abuse doesn’t occur. We also educate them about signs and behaviors to watch for.
I’ve learned that discipline is learning and punishment is hurting. There is a huge difference between the two.
