Families and Divorce*

Children of all ages experience fear, sadness, anger and anxiety when their parents divorce. Many question whether they are at fault for the breakup, while parents grieve the loss of their marriage.

Families and Divorce is a four-hour workshop designed to help families understand the emotional process of divorce and the effects of divorce on children. Parents attend classes with other adults going through divorce while your children attend their own class with kids in their age group. Parents learn how to manage relationships with their ex-spouses. Children learn the most important lesson of all — that their parents never stop loving them.

  • Who may attend: Entire families (Divorcing or divorced spouses must register for separate program dates)
  • Length: Two formats are available:
Parents Only — one 4-hour workshop
Full Family — two 2-hour sessions
  • Cost: $75 per individual or family
(covers course fee, registration, and materials)
  • Program brochure: English | Spanish

* This workshop satisfies the requirements of the family courts in the state of Texas. ESCAPE's course is the only court-approved program offering classes for parents and children, as well as free playcare for infants and toddlers.
