April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

PLAN NOW FOR NEXT YEAR!

In 1989, a Virginia grandmother began the Blue Ribbon Campaign as a tribute to her 3-year-old grandson who died at the hands of his mother's boyfriend. It is a memorial to children who have been abused or neglected. It also serves as a reminder that everyone has an important job to do in the prevention of child maltreatment.

We can  C.H.A.N.G.E. the way we THINK about child abuse prevention!

C - Call and report child abuse and neglect as needed
H - Honor, cherish, and respect children
A - Attitudes towards parenting
N - Never Ever Neglect your child(ren)
G - Get involved in the child abuse prevention effort
E - Educate yourself & the community on parenting skills

Education and awareness are important first steps in C.H.A.N.G.E.
