About ESCAPE

Mission Statement

ESCAPE’s mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect before a child is hurt by providing intervention, education, and support programs to families in crisis.

ESCAPE stops child abuse before it starts.

Founded in 1983 by the Houston-area chapters of The National Exchange Club, ESCAPE Family Resource Center began as part of a national project dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect in local communities across the country. We are a nonprofit, 501(c)3, organization that relies on private support to prevent and combat emotional, physical, and sexual violence towards children. Contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, churches, and other organizations make it possible for us to provide child abuse prevention programs and parenting classes to families looking for ways to create safe and happy homes.

Our Beliefs

  • Stress is the greatest factor placing children at risk for being victims of abuse or neglect.
  • All families experience stress at some point in their lives.
  • Most people parent their children using the methods their parents used with them.
